The following lists some of the benefits of the Genesis Enterprise Information Integrator (GENII):
Accommodates unlimited data, any number of applications. There are no limits to the amount of data or applications ported through GENII. GENII brings together data from different database platforms. Data may be added to GENII without bound − and without additional cost or modules.
Has the functionality of a reusable database. GENII connects to data. Only descriptions of data are stored and may then be manipulated or rearranged continuously like building blocks. Applications share their functions and data in a way such that higher order applications may be built without necessitating a huge amount of time and effort in rebuilding.
Different views by functional level: executive, data steward, office, user. GENII provides EII views of all data at the executive, data steward, business area, and application level.
Space, time, and multidimensional tables can be managed within the same environment. GENII makes no distinction between relational database technology and GIS technology. This facilitates the side-by-side use of tabular and spatial queries.
Ability to inject a wide variety of business logic into each application. GENII can model a wide cross section of data types and data models. As such information can be joined from different data environments and a wide variety of business logics may be injected into each unique GENII application.
Improves interoperability and performance through more efficient access to data sources. GENII improves interoperability between platforms by allowing access to all data types without transformation limitations. Also, because GENII increases performance efficiencies through more efficient access to data sources, it has also been shown to severely decrease cost in both infrastructure and staff.
Rapid data modeling. Because table relationships are modeled as metadata, logical data modeling can be experimentally actualized through physical data modeling, allowing for a more rapid data modeling effort.
Real-time application development that can be performed by lay personnel. GENII and its administration are fully web-distributed. This allows administrators and developers to sit next to users within the user's office and make customizations directly. GENII administrator and developer positions can be filled by most employees as specialized database or software programming experience is not required. Standards development will follow the reality of actual data rather than unimplemented paper models.
Manage different views of the same entity: federal, state, local. GENII can manage sister organizations in parallel, easily presenting a view of organization A and then switching to organization B. It is also possible to simultaneously manage different views of the same data entity. For example, if a County calls a road 'X' with a given set of attributes, there can also be a State view, Y, with its own set of attributes.
Special tools bound within the core software. GENII comes with special tools to support a variety of business processes: asset management, automatic inventory and work order systems, work management, linear referencing methodologies, internal mapping, and internet publishing.
Accommodates legacy application data capture and integration. Ability to change makes GENII an ideal legacy application recovery tool. Legacy data and their associated applications persist in our businesses because their information is essential but intertwined with dated methodologies that they are very difficult or costly to upgrade and dismantle. GENII can connect to many types of legacy applications using various gateway techniques. Legacy information can then be ported to the web and unique new applications built from the GENII metadata framework. Like all GENII data, legacy information may be mixed and matched with other data participating in the GENII metadata framework. As the GENII representation of the legacy approaches corporate desires, the umbilical cord to the legacy may be cut.
